8th MCD Prior Service Recruiting
Master Sergeant Kurt L. Chmielewski

Master Sergeant Chmielewski completed recruiting training at MCRD San Diego, CA in February 2003 and attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon completion he reported to MCAGCC 29 Palms, CA for classification as a Field Radio Operator (0621).

Upon completion of training in July 2003, he was transferred to the Select Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, 4th Marine Air Wing in Minneapolis, MN as a radio operator in the Select Marine Corps Reserves.

In January 2004, LCpl Chmielewski was mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and served in Forward Operating Base Solerno Afghanistan from March to October 2004. During this deployment he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon.

In September 2005, LCpl Chmielewski was mobilized in support of the humanitarian effort in New Orleans, LA for Hurricane Katrina.

In July 2008, Cpl Chmielewski joined the Active Reserve program and executed a lateral move to Maintenance Management (MIMMS) where he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing in Minneapolis, MN.

From September 2011 through May 2013, Sgt Chmielewski served as the Battalion MIMMS chief for H&S Co(-) 4th Landing Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group in Ft Lewis, WA. Sgt Chmielewski also held the billet of Toys for Tots coordinator for the Seattle area in 2012.

From June 2013 until July 2016, he served as a Prior Service Recruiter (PSR) in Marietta, GA. He was named the PSR of the Year for 6th Marine Corps District in Fiscal Year 2015. In June 2016, he executed a lateral move to Career Recruiter (8412) and assumed duties as Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) Prior Service Recruiting Substation Chicopee, MA, Prior Service Recruiting Station One (PSRS-1). He was named the 1st Marine Corps District PSR SNCOIC of the year for Fiscal Year 2018 and 2019.

From July 2019 until July 2020, he served as the Operations Chief for PSRS-1, 1st Marine Corps District in Garden City, NY.

From July 2020 until July 2021, he served as the Recruiter Instructor for PSRS-1, 1st Marine Corps District in Garden City, NY.

From July 2021 until January 2022, he served as the SNCOIC Prior Service Recruiting Substation Fort Worth, TX, Prior Recruiting Station Eight (PSRS-8).

From January 2022 until June 2022, he served as the Operations Chief for PSRS-8, 8th Marine Corps District in Fort Worth, TX.

In June 2022, he assumed his current role as the Recruiter Instructor for PSRS-8, 8th Marine Corps District in Fort Worth, TX.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of 4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of 7th award), Combat Action Ribbon, and the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon (bronze star in lieu of 3rd award).

He is married to Jody Chmielewski. Together they have two daughters and a son.
