Recruiting Station South Texas is headquartered in Sugarland, Texas, and is part of the Mighty 8th Marine Corps District. RS South Texas proudly covers the coastal region of Texas, from the vibrant city of Houston to the southernmost reaches of the Rio Grande Valley. The area we serve is a reflection of America's diversity, with communities that embody the values of hard work, patriotism, and a commitment to excellence.

The station operates 12 sub-stations spread throughout our area of operations, ensuring that we are deeply embedded in local communities. Additionally, we have an Officer Selection Team based in Houston, focused on identifying the next generation of leaders for the Marine Corps.

The Marines of RS South Texas are dedicated to serving within their local communities, schools, and municipalities, fostering strong connections while upholding the Corps' core values of honor, courage, and commitment. Our mission is to mentor and lead young men and women across South Texas, guiding them to achieve personal and professional growth while preparing them to earn the title of United States Marine.

Nelson Lovos Jr., a native of Houston, Texas, stepped on the yellow footprints at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on 13 June 2005. After serving eight years as an enlisted Marine and earning the rank of Staff Sergeant, Major Lovos commissioned through the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program from The University of Texas at Austin on 19 December 2013.

Recruiting Station South Texas

Sergeant Major Brandon D. Rodriguez enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 2005 from Los Angeles, California. He completed recruit training with Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, graduating in March 2006. Following Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry–West, Camp Pendleton, California, he attended Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School, Twentynine Palms, California, where he was trained as a Field Radio Operator.
