Sergeant Major Angel L. Olmo

Sergeant Major Olmo enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2004 and attended recruit training at Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon completion of recruit training, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class and was then directed to Marine Combat Training (MCT).  

In November 2004, Private First Class Olmo attended Communications School in 29 Palms California for in which he was then, meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. 

In January of 2005, Lance Corporal Olmo reported for duty to 2nd Marine Regiment, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. In February of 2005, Lance Corporal Olmo was deployed to Al-Anbar Province Iraq. In September 2005 while deployed, Lance Corporal Olmo was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.  

In February 2006, Corporal Olmo returned from deployment and began serving as the 2nd Marine Regiment Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System (MIMMS) Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC).  In December of 2006, Corporal Olmo was redeployed to Al-Anbar Provence Iraq. In June 2007 Corporal Olmo was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

After returning from his deployment in February 2008, Sergeant Olmo received Temporary Additional Duty Orders as a member of the Marine Corps Wrestling Team in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In April 2008, he received orders to 8th Communications Battalion Alpha Company, serving as the Wire Platoon Sergeant.  By April 2009, Sergeant Olmo deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the Communications Platoon Sergeant under 2nd MEF, 5th BN, 10th Marines, 2nd MarDiv.

In March 2010 he returned from Afghanistan and by April 2010, Sergeant Olmo received orders to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Communications School, Enlisted Instructor platoon. He served as the Wire Platoon Sergeant, Uniformed Victim Advocate, and EKMS manager in support of both Warrant Officers and Commissioned Officers Communications School. 

In August 2012, Sergeant Olmo received orders to the Combat Service Support for The Basic School (TBS), responsible for providing communication support and period of instructions throughout the command. In December 2012, Sergeant Olmo was the honor graduate for class 1-13, Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Career Course in Quantico, Virgina.  

In January 2013, Sergeant Olmo was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and attending the Marine Corps Martial Arts Center of excellence earning his black belt martial arts instructor tab.  In April 2013, Staff Sergeant Olmo volunteered for Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Orders; as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Staff Sergeant Olmo served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor for Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion from July 2013 to September 2015. He was then hand selected to served as an Instructor for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, Drill Instructor School and as the Regimental Prohibited Activities and Conduct and Response Representative from September 2015 to September 2016. In July 2016, Staff Sergeant Olmo was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. 

In September 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Olmo received orders to 12th Marine Regiment, Headquarters Battery, Okinawa, Japan. While assigned to the command, Gunnery Sergeant Olmo served as the Headquarters Battery First Sergeant from September of 2016 through June of 2017.  From June 2017 to September of 2017, he was then assigned to take on the responsibilities of Headquarters Battery Master Sergeant in which he was responsible for all operations and exercises throughout the PACOM area of operation.  Upon completion of his duties as the Battery Master Sergeant, he immediately assumed the duties as the Headquarters Battery, Network Communications Chief wherein he oversaw the typographical network infrastructure for 12th Marine Regiment. 

In May 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Olmo reported to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy as a faculty advisor until September 2020, where he was selected to the rank of First Sergeant.  In October 2020, he was promoted and received orders to serve as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant for Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, Virginia. 

In October of 2021, First Sergeant Olmo was relocated to serve as the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) First Sergeant for Alpha Company, Marine Corps Security Force Regiment.  As the Alpha Company First Sergeant, he was directly responsible for the manning and deploying numerous platoons to FASTCENT, FASTEUR, FASTPAC and GTMO.  

In December 2022, First Sergeant Olmo was hand selected to serve as the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Regimental Sergeant Major. While serving as the Regimental Sergeant Major for the next eight months, he was responsible for overseeing two battalions, eight companies, while also fulfilling his responsibilities as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant.  

In December 2023, First Sergeant Olmo was selected promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and executed orders to 8th Marine Corps District, Recruiting Station San Antonio, Texas.

Sergeant Major Olmo's personal Awards include a Meritorious service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Second Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Sixth Award) and a Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
