Master Sergeant Grant D. Brawn

Master Sergeant (MSgt) Grant D. Brawn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October 2002.  He arrived on the yellow footprints for Marine Corps Basic Training at MCRD San Diego, CA on 21 October 2002.  He was assigned to Golf Company, Platoon 2141 and graduated 14 January 2003.  From there he attended Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Pendleton, CA and upon graduation attended Supply School at Camp Johnson, NC.  His first duty station was as a Reserve Marine with Headquarters and Service Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), 4th Force Service Support Group (FSSG) in Portland, OR, where he served as a Supply Administration and Operations Specialist.  He also served on and off Active-Duty Operational Support (ADOS) as a Consolidated Memorandum Receipt (CMR) Clerk and Fiscal Clerk until he was accepted as a direct hire to conduct a Lateral Move onto the Active Reserve (AR) Program as a Data Systems Technician in 2007.

In the fall of 2007 MSgt Brawn’s first AR duty assignment was with Headquarters and Service Company, 6th ESB, 4th FSSG in Portland, OR.  In January of 2008 MSgt Brawn attended Communications School, earned the Data Systems Technician MOS and returned to Headquarters and Service Company.  There he served as the Information Systems Coordinator, Primary Alternate Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) Manager and Data Systems Supervisor until July 2011.

MSgt Brawn’s second AR duty assignment was with Headquarters and Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group.  He served there as the Battalion Information Systems Coordinator, Color Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, EKMS Manager and Cyber Network Systems Chief until he was selected for Prior Service Recruiting Duty in 2014. 

After graduating as the Honor Graduate at the Basic Prior Service Recruiting School in June 2014 MSgt Brawn received orders to Prior Service Permanent Contact Station Virginia Beach, Prior Service Recruiting Sub-Station (PSRSS) Camp Lejeune, NC, Prior Service Recruiting Station 4, New Cumberland, PA, 4th MCD. He was a production recruiter from July 2014 until February 2016. MSgt Brawn was PSR of the Nation runner up in FY15.

MSgt Brawn then became a Career Recruiter and the SNCOIC, PSRSS CLNC, PSRS4 in February 2016. Between FY17 and FY21 MSgt Brawn won the SNCOIC of the year for 4th MCD all but 1 year and was selected as the PSR SNCOIC of the Nation twice.  In 2022 then GySgt Brawn was promoted to the rank of MSgt and subsequently slated to fill the billet of Operations Chief, PSRS8.

MSgt Brawn Checked into PSRS8 July 2022 and is continuing to serve as the Operations Chief for PSRS8.

His military education includes SNCO Advanced Course, SNCO Career Course, Sergeants Course, Basic Prior Service Recruiting Course, Career Recruiter Course, EKMS Managers Course, and Share-Point Basic Site Ownership and Management Course, Supply Chain Management Course, Data Network Specialist Course.

MSgt Brawn’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th Award) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5th Award) and Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Silver Hourglass.) Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon (3rd Award). Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (4th Award) Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal (2nd Award)

MSgt Brawn resides in Keller, TX with his wife, Alicia and children, Katie and Bailey.
