Sergeant Major Shonti J. Gregory assumed his current post as the Command Sergeant Major of Recruiting Station Albuquerque, 8th Marine Corps District, on 1 July 2025. A native of Woodbridge, Virginia, he enlisted in the Marine Corps on 10 November 2003 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.
Over the course of his career, Sergeant Major Gregory has served in a variety of billets, including: Inventory Management Specialist, Safety Officer, Platoon Sergeant, Security Augment Force Platoon Sergeant, Personal Security Detail Leader, Budget Analyst, Funds Approver, Warehouse Chief, Recruiter, Parachutist, Detachment SNCOIC, Djibouti Africa, Detachment SNCOIC, MorĂ³n, Spain, Faculty Advisor, Advanced School Chief, Advanced School SNCOIC, Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company First Sergeant, Communications Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, H&S Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Company First Sergeant, H&S Company, Marine Air Support Squadron 3, and Battalion Sergeant Major, Combat Logistics Battalion 13.
His operational experience includes multiple deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Operation Phantom Fury and Operation Freedom's Sentinel. He also served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Battan.
Sergeant Major Gregory has been recognized with multiple personal and unit awards throughout his career.
