Major Kyle S. King was born and raised in Southern California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2004 out of Lakewood, CA, and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA. Upon graduation from Ground Supply School in Camp Lejeune, NC, he received the occupational specialty 3043, Supply Administration Marine.
In 2005, he reported to Combat Logistics Company 36 in Iwakuni, Japan. During his tour he deployed to Thailand for Exercise Cobra Gold ’05 and to the Republic of Korea for Exercise Foal Eagle ’06.
In 2007, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 at Camp Pendleton, CA, where he served as Platoon Sergeant over the Squadron’s supply platoon.
In 2008, he was accepted into the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and graduated from Officer Candidate School in 2009. He attended The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and a minor in Spanish. He subsequently completed The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, VA, in 2012.
From 2013-2016, he served in 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, at Camp Pendleton, CA. During this period he completed a deployment with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit out of Okinawa Japan serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Company E, and participating in bilateral exercises with the Republic of Korea. Upon return to Camp Pendleton, CA, he served as a Weapons Platoon Commander in Company E and again completed a deployment with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participating in bilateral exercises in Australia, the Republic of the Philippines and humanitarian operations in Saipan, Northern Marianas.
From 2016-2019, Major King was assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA, where he served as Lead Series Commander for Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, and the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer for Instructional Training Company, Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment.
From 2020-2022 he was assigned to 3d Battalion, 5th Marines, and served as Company Commander, Company K, and Battalion Operations Officer during deployments to the United States' Southwest Border in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa, Japan. From 2022-2023 he served as the Assistant Current Operations Officer, G-3, 1st Marine Division.
Major King assumed command of Recruiting Station Salt Lake City in June of 2023.
Major King is a graduate of the Maneuver Career Captain's Course at Fort Benning, GA, and the Advanced Maneuver Warfare Course at Twentynine Palms, CA. He is also a graduate of Arizona State University where he received a Master of Arts in history in 2021.
