Major Ziaire O'Brien

Major Ziaire O’Brien was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 2014 after graduating from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

His command tours include detachment level commands at Combat Logistics Battalion 8; series level command at 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island; and Company Commander of Headquarters and Service Company, 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment.

During his staff assignments, he served as the S-3, Current Operations Officer at Combat Logistics Battalion 8 and Aide-De-Camp 2d Marine Logistics Group. He has served as the Assistant Director of Drill Instructor School, training and developing the future of Marine Corps Drill Instructors and Series Commanders. Returning to the Fleet Marine Force, Major O’Brien served as the Battalion Logistics Officer at 2d Battalion, 2d Marines. Upon promotion to Major, he transitioned to 2d Marine Division G-4 to serve as the Future Plans Officer. While serving as the Plans Officer for 2d Marine Division, Major O’Brien augmented the Joint Task Force 406 staff aboard the USS Mount Whitney as the J-4 Operations Officer supporting planning for Noncombatant Evacuation Operations in the EUCOM Area of Responsibility.

His operational deployments include Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, Crisis Response – Africa 17.1 aboard Naval Air Station Sigonella and Unit Deployment Program 23.2 in Okinawa, Japan.

Major O’Brien is a graduate of Marine Corps Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program), Advanced Logistics Expeditionary Operations Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (Resident), MAGTF Staff Planners Course and Maritime Prepositioning Force Staff Planners Course.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals with two Gold Stars (in lieu of third award). Major O’Brien is married to Briana O’Brien and they have one daughter, Sophia-Grace O’Brien.
