Major Devon Sanderfield

Major Sanderfield is a native of Springfield, Illinois. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego. After graduating from The School of Infantry (SOI) as a rifleman, he reported to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, where he served as a rifleman, team leader, and rifle squad leader.

His enlisted deployments with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Major Sanderfield ended his active service in 2010 and began attending the University of Illinois. While in school, he completed Officer Candidate School through the Platoon Leaders Course and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in January 2014. He subsequently attended The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course.

In October 2015, Major Sanderfield reported to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, where he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander from 2015 to 2017, deploying in support of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan. Afterward, he executed orders to The Basic School in September 2017.

At The Basic School, Major Sanderfield served as a Warfighting Instructor and Staff Platoon Commander for Golf Company 7-18, Echo Company 5-19, and the Warrant Officer Basic Course 1-20.

In July 2021, Major Sanderfield reported to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 2d Marines aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. From July 2021 to February 2023, he served as a Company Commander for Alpha Company, the 2nd Marine Division Force Design 2030 experimental company. During this time, the company participated in five large-scale Force Design Exercises and deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program (2022).

After completing his tour as Company Commander, Major Sanderfield assumed the role of Operations Officer from March 2023 to November 2024. During this period, he deployed to Norway in support of Nordic Response 2024 and Integrated Training Exercise 5-24. In December 2024, Major Sanderfield assumed the role of Current Operations Officer for 2nd Marine Regiment.

On 11 June 2025, Major Sanderfield assumed command of Recruiting Station Dallas.

Major Sanderfield is a Distinguished Graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School at Quantico, VA, and the Naval Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.

Major Sanderfield’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

He is married to his wife Alicia and they have two boys, Carson and Brady.
