Sergeant Dallas Allen , a recruiter with Recruiting Substation Oklahoma City South, Recruiting Station Oklahoma City, stands toe to toe with Maj. R.H. Robinson III, Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Oklahoma City during a Bronze Star ceremony at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Aug. 23. Allen was awarded the Bronze Star with the combat distinguishing “V” device, for valor for his extraordinary actions May 2012, while serving as squad leader with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine in Helmand Province, Afganistan. 2/6 was partnered with the Afghan National Army in Helmand Province in May 2012, when a rogue Afghan soldier opened fire on Allen’s squad. As the only member of the patrol unharmed during the barrage, Allen located the enemies’ position and killed him. He later controlled the situation by sending medical evacuation requests, establishing security and aiding in casualty care. The 26-year old Allen is from Gloucester, Va. (Marine Corps Photo By Sgt.
