Sergeant Dallas Allen, a recruiter with Recruiting Substation Oklahoma City South, Recruiting Station Oklahoma City is awarded the Bronze Star with the combat distinguishing “V” device, for valor at the Oklahoma City National Memorial Aug. 23. The rifleman, who served more than five years with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment based out of Marine Corps Base Came Lejuene, North Carolina, deployed twice to Afghanistan. Allen earned the honor in May 2012 while partnered with the Afghan National Army in Helmand Province, when a rogue Afghan soldier opened fire on Allen’s squad. As the only member of the patrol unharmed during the barrage, Allen located the enemies’ position and killed him. He later controlled the situation by sending medical evacuation requests, establishing security and aiding in casualty care. The 26-year old Allen is from Gloucester, Va. (Marine Corps Photo By Sgt.
