Major Michael Siani

Major Michael M. Siani is a career infantryman who began his service in 2005. He served as a mortarman with 3d Battalion, 2d Marines and completed two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2008 to 2010, he served at The Basic School where he was assigned as an instructor for Infantry Weapons Officer Course and as an Enlisted Warfighting Instructor. In 2010, he was accepted into the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) and earned his commission in 2011. He subsequently attended The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course.

In July 2012, Major Siani reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines and served as the 2d Platoon Commander and Weapons Platoon Commander, Company A. He was reassigned as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander for the remainder of his tour.  During this time, Major Siani deployed within BLT 1/6 of the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in the Arabian Sea and in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Major Siani transferred to II Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG), II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), in April 2015. He was assigned as the Assistant Officer-in-Charge of the Amphibious Raids Branch, and the Officer-in-Charge of the COXSWAIN Skills course and Tactical, Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP) course. During this time, he authored a collective training plan to standardize TRAP training that all EOTG units now employ. During his time at II EOTG, Major Siani evaluated six MEU rotations and three Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) unit rotations.

In July 2018, Major Siani reported to Expeditionary Warfare School. After graduating in May 2019, Major Siani reported to 3d Battalion, 8th Marines, where he assumed command of Company I. During this time, he conducted three service-level exercises, MAGTF Warfighting Exercise 1-20, Mountain Training Exercise 2-20, and Adversary Force Exercise 5-20. From 2020-2021, Major Siani deployed to Okinawa, Japan, supporting Unit Deployment Plan-West. He participated in three MEF-level exercises that demonstrated significant strategic effects against near-peer competitors.

In July 2021, Major Siani reported to Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, to attend the Air Force’s Air Command and Staff College.

A native of Charlestown, New Hampshire, Major Siani graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and earned Masters’ degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Air Force Command and Staff College. He has completed the following professional military education programs: Expeditionary Warfare School, College of Naval Command and Staff (non-resident) as a distinguished graduate, and Air Command and Staff College. He reported to Recruiting Station Dallas in June 2022.
